“In my work, our reporting means that I am confronted daily with examples of what lack of freedom does to people. And how they flourish when they can live and work in freedom.”

Simone has been working as a presenter at the NOS since 2011. In addition to the news, she can be seen in other NOS programs such as the results evening of the municipal elections, the Liberation Day concert and the slavery commemoration on 1 July. Every Friday evening Simone presents Met het Oog op Morgen for the NOS. Until 2013, she worked at VARA as an editor, reporter and presenter in many radio programs. In 2022, Simone was jury chairman of the Carla Atzema Soroptimist Prize for journalistic projects and a jury member of the Language Heroes Prize of the Reading and Writing Foundation. Simone is also a member of the Supervisory Board of music theater collective Orkater and a board member of the theater company Well Made Productions.

As a board member, Simone can help by putting people who are sometimes at the risk of their lives fighting for their rights and freedoms to the fore. With this she draws attention to human rights violations worldwide. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Simone presented the Four Freedoms Award digitally to Maria Ressa. She considered that a great honor, because Ressa is an example for many and herself.
