Mr Richard Karl Freiherr von Weizsäcker was born in 1920 in Germany. During World War II, he was a conscript officer in the German Wehrmacht. After high school, Von Weizsäcker pursued military training. After the war, he began studying law at university. In 1955, Von Weizsäcker became a doctor of law. From 1950 to 1953, he was a scientific assistant at a German metal industry company.

From 1969 to 1981, Mr Von Weizsäcker was a member of the Bundestag. In 1981, he became mayor of West Berlin. Mr Von Weizsäcker was Germany's sixth federal president and governed from 1984 to 1994. He is considered one of Germany's most important presidents after World War II. In 2015, Mr Von Weizsäcker died in Berlin.
