Olcay Gulsen presents Freedom from Fear Award to Gisèle Pelicot
On April 16, the Four Freedoms Awards ceremony will take place in Middelburg. Five international freedom fighters (laureates) will receive a Four Freedoms Award for their efforts to guarantee freedom and defend human rights. Each laureate is paired with a presenter who feels connected to the laureate. Entrepreneur and activist Olcay Gulsen will present the Freedom from Fear Award to Gisèle Pelicot, international figurehead for victims of sexual violence.
A powerful voice against domestic violence and femicide
Olcay Gulsen was chosen because of her many years of commitment to ending violence against women and girls worldwide. By sharing her personal story, including in the docuseries “Olcay & Domestic Violence,” she makes domestic violence a topic of discussion. In addition, she has been fighting against femicide for years and has been the national ambassador for the “Orange the World” campaign since 2020. Olcay has been emphasizing for years that violence against women is not a private problem, but an urgent social issue that requires robust legislation and regulations.
With Olcay Gulsen as presenter, the award ceremony will have a powerful and meaningful impact. The board considers her presence a great honor and a valuable support to the work of the laureate.
