Postponed Meet-up

On Wednesday March 31, 2021, the presentation of the postponed Four Freedoms Awards 2020 took place to the Filipino journalist Maria Ressa, presenter and do-gooder Sander de Kramer (Sunday Foundation), Religions for Peace (Azza Karam), the mayor of Palermo Leoluca Orlando and the United Nations (Antonio Guterres). The Four Freedoms Meet-up, which was also postponed, took place afterwards.

Due to corona, the Meet-up was broadcast live from the Nieuwe Kerk in Middelburg. Writer and journalist Joris Luyendijk presented the Meet-up and speakers from Vrijheidscolleges Natascha van Weezel, Simone Weimans, Massih Hutak and Joris Linssen reflected on the work of the laureates. They also talked to the young people about their vision of freedom. They could ask questions live via the chat room.

About the Meet-up

The Meet-up took place for the first time in 2021 and is the result of an intensive collaboration between the Roosevelt Foundation and Vrijheidscolleges. Together we inspire young and old to reflect on the value of the Four Freedoms and the ideas of the Roosevelts. In addition to the Meet-up, Vrijheidscolleges also organize programs and lectures about freedom at liberation festivals, schools and at various other locations in the country.
