LGBTQA+ non-governmental organisation ÜniKuir fights for the fundamental right of all people to live their lives as equals, without fear of discrimination or persecution regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation and gender characteristics. In Turkey and many other countries around the world, LGBTQA+ people are discriminated against in every aspect of their lives, transgender and same-sex relationships are criminalised and intersex people are explicitly prohibited from freely expressing themselves.

Although ÜniKuir is still a relatively young organisation, its valuable work in support of the LGBTQA+ community reaches many thousands of people in Turkey and worldwide. Ünikuir is committed to equal access to education, freedom of association and expression, equal treatment before the law and preventing discrimination and hate speech. The organisation supports LGBTQA+ people by monitoring court cases and advocacy campaigns, helps access good healthcare and provides psychological assistance and counselling. ÜniKuir also provides legal support and guidance, organises forums, meetings and workshops, and promotes cooperation between LGBTQA+ youth organisations and international and local decision-makers.
