Dr Jan Herman van Roijen was born in Turkey in 1905. In the Netherlands, he became a diplomat and later Minister of Foreign Affairs. He then became ambassador of the Netherlands to Canada, the United States, London and Saudi Arabia. Van Roijen was a Dutch economist and VVD politician. Van Roijen died on March 16, 1991.
