HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan was born in Jordan in 1947. He is a member of the Jordanian royal family and was previously crown prince. In 1965, bin Talal was appointed crown prince of Jordan. When his brother the king was absent, bin Talal ruled the country on his behalf. Three weeks before the king's death, bin Talal was replaced by his nephew Abdullah. Now bin Talal is chairman of the Advisory Council on Water and Sanitation of the United Nations (UN) secretary-general.

HRH Prince bin Talal of Jordan's life revolves around improving understanding between the Muslim and Western worlds. He also works to make the conversation between Muslims, Christians and Jews stronger. Bin Talal founded and has been actively involved in Jordanian and international institutes and committees. He is president of the Royal Institute for Inter-faith studies: the foundation for research on differences between faiths and cultures.
