Four Freedoms Meet-up 2024
This year, the Freedom Colleges Foundation is organizing the Four Freedoms Meet-up on behalf of the Roosevelt Foundation for the fourth year in a row. On Thursday, April 11, more than four hundred young people will discuss freedom in the Nieuwe Kerk in Middelburg with Four Freedoms Award recipients from all over the world. This conversation focuses on Roosevelt's Four Freedoms.

During this edition, young people can talk to international freedom advocates, who will receive the Four Freedoms Awards earlier that day: Mykolo Kuleba (director of aid organization Save Ukraine), Eliot Higgins (founder of research collective Bellingcat), Zumretay Arkin (lawyer on behalf of World Uyghur Congress, which advocates for the Uyghur community in China), Sônia Guajajara (Minister of Indigenous Affairs in Brazil) and Grace Forrest (founder of Walk Free, which opposes modern slavery). They can also ask questions to journalist Derk Sauer and activist Melati Wijsen, who make the connection with the Dutch context and experiences of young people. The presentation is in the hands of Ikenna Azuike.
Four Freedoms Meet-up
Roosevelt's words are still relevant: even today, these forms of freedom are not self-evident for everyone. That is why the Freedom Colleges and the Roosevelt Foundation organize the annual Four Freedoms Meet-up. During this meeting, young people will talk to well-known Freedom speakers about what freedom means to all of us and how you can contribute to it yourself. This years meeting will take place on Thursday, April 11 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM in the Nieuwe Kerk in Middelburg. Subsequently, the school program Four Freedoms in the classroom will also take place this year, where students will be explained in an educational and accessible way what Roosevelt's Four Freedoms stand for.
