GRIJS GEBIED is a personal and musical performance by theater maker Marcos Valster da Costa Ferreira and is about the search for how your skin color determines your identity. An actor with a guitar tells personal stories. He takes you along in his experiences that can make you laugh, but at the same time can be confrontational.
Can you determine who you are and who you want to belong to, or do others do that for you?
Can you be Dutch and Brazilian at the same time? Or are you one of the two and the other not?
Are you an immigrant or a native, or is there something in between?
To what extent does your origin and religion also determine your group of friends?
Who do you want to belong to?
Who do you really belong to?
Who do you feel at home with?
An important part of the performance is the discussion about the theme between the theater maker and the audience afterwards. A dialogue. Not about politics, but an open conversation, so that it becomes tangible what it means to live with one color in the Netherlands.
