Kofi Annan Laureaat International Four Freedoms Award 2004

Born in Kumasi, Ghana in 1938. In 1962 he joined the United Nations and served in a great variety of functions until he he was elected Secretary-General in 1997. During his two terms he revitalized the UN. For his strong personal commitment to international cooperation and tolerance and for strengthening the UN as a guardian of worldwide peace and social justice.
