Mary Robinson Laureaat International Four Freedoms Award 1998

After her studies, she became the youngest professor of law in Ireland and the first female president of her country in 1990. In 1997 she was appointed UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. For her service as the ‘People’s President’ and her ceaseless efforts to champion the rights of the poor and marginalized both at home and abroad. This award is also meant as an inspiration for her difficult task as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
