He is Honorary Vice-President of the World Jewish Congress. For a period of fifty years he served this organization in various capacities, working to advance the codification of human rights and to negotiate guarantees for Jews all over the world. He was the first to inform the Allied governments of the holocaust in August 1942. For devoting his career to the defense of human rights in general and the defense of the rights of Jews and Jewish communities in particular.
