SCIENCE CAFÉ FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND EXPRESSION

On May 19, Roosevelt Academy, Zeeuwse Bibliotheek, Provinciale Zeeuwse Courant and Free Voice organized a Science Cafe on the freedom of the press in Europe, Indonesia, the United States and Russia. Ernst Jan Rozendaal moderated a discussion, aided by stimulating propositions, videos, chats and blogs. Among others, former editor of Algemeen Dagblad and current director of Free Voice, Jan Bonjer, discussed his experiences of covering the relationship between the press and politics in Russia, while reporter Wendy van den Hurk examined the freedom of the press in Indonesia in the past decade, as well as the future of citizen journalism.
