“HOW FAR IS STRASBOURG FROM ZEELAND” WITH JEAN PAUL COSTA AND EGBERT MYJER
MAY 28, 2010 CONCERT- EN GEHOORZAAL, MIDDELBURG
“What is the importance of Strasbourg for the protection of rights in the Netherlands?”, “What does the European Court of Human Rights mean in daily life?” and, “Is Strasbourg too far away?”. These questions, and others, were the subject of a symposium on May 28th 2010. The Roosevelt Academy and the Zeeuwse Meesters are responsible for its organization. President Jean Paul Costa and the Dutch judge in the European Court of Human Rights, Egbert Myjer and Winnie Sorgdrager, Wilhelmina Thomassen and Arjan Hamburger debated with each other and the audience about the meaning of the European Convention on Human Rights in the Netherlands.
During the symposium, Professor dr. Barbara Oomen presented the first results of the Comprehensive Human Rights Survey.
